Careful Removal of a Thick Forefoot Callus
Foot health explained
Careful Removal of a Thick Forefoot Callus
A dense patch of hard skin beneath the forefoot is reduced with a scalpel. The callus sits under the ball of the foot and is noticeably thicker and more yellow than the surrounding skin.
Working Across the Callus
The blade is kept nearly parallel to the sole while fine layers are shaved from the raised area. The practitioner works from different directions to follow the shape of the callus and gradually reduce its height.
A More Even Surface
As the thickened layers are removed, the border of the callus becomes less prominent. The treated area finishes flatter and more even with the skin around it.
