Women's Work Boot Sizing: How to Find the Right Fit

The size printed on the box is only a starting point.

A reliable women's work boot fit depends on measured foot length, the shape of the last, work socks and how securely the heel is held.

Measure both feet

Measure from the back of the heel to the longest toe while standing, ideally later in the day when the feet may be slightly larger.

Use the longer foot and compare it with the brand's own foot-length data rather than a generic conversion chart.

Check toe room and heel hold

The toes need width and depth without the foot sliding forward. At the back, the heel should feel held when the boot is properly laced.

A women-specific last can provide a narrower heel relative to the forefoot instead of simply scaling down a men's shape.

Test the boots as they will be worn

Wear your normal work socks and any required orthotic. Lace both boots, stand, walk, use stairs if available and check for rubbing or pressure.

Do not rely on a painful break-in period to correct a fundamentally poor fit.
