If You’re Getting Heel Pain in the Morning, Arch Support Can Help 👣 Do you get that sharp, stabbing
If You’re Getting Heel Pain in the Morning, Arch Support Can Help 👣 Do you get that sharp, stabbing pain in your heel when you first get out of bed in the morning? That “first few steps” pain is one of the most common complaints we see in the podiatry clinic, and in many cases, it’s linked to strain on the plantar fascia — the thick ligament that runs from your heel to the front of your foot. The big question is… why does it happen? Often, it comes down to how your feet are functioning throughout the day. When your feet roll in too much (what we call overpronation), the arch collapses repeatedly with every step. That means the tissues in your feet — especially the plantar fascia — get stretched and strained over and over again. Now think about how many steps you do in a day. For many tradies and workers, that’s 10,000+ steps daily, often on hard concrete, uneven job sites, or warehouse floors. If your feet are rolling in excessively on every step, that repetitive strain adds up fast. Eventually, the plantar fascia starts to become overloaded. That overload causes micro-irritation and inflammation where the ligament attaches to the heel bone, and that’s when you start noticing symptoms like: ✔ Heel pain in the morning ✔ Pain after sitting for long periods ✔ Sharp pain when walking barefoot ✔ Aching feet by the end of the workday ✔ Tight calves and sore arches This is where arch support can make a big difference. When you support the arch properly, you help limit how much the foot rolls inward. That means the plantar fascia doesn’t get stretched as aggressively with every step. Think of arch support like taking tension off a rope. If the rope is constantly pulled tight, eventually it gets irritated. But if you reduce that tension, it gets a chance to settle down and recover. That’s exactly what a good supportive work boot or supportive insole aims to do. At ERGONX, our work boots are designed by an Australian podiatrist to help support your feet across the workday. We build arch support into every style to help: • Reduce overpronation • Support the plantar fascia • Cushion impact forces • Limit fatigue in your feet and legs • Improve comfort on hard surfaces We also recommend calf stretching, because tight calves often increase strain on the plantar fascia as well. In the clinic, one of the first things we usually recommend for heel pain is: 1. Better arch support 2. Calf stretching 3. Supportive footwear 4. Avoid walking barefoot on hard floors The sooner you address heel pain, the better. Too many people ignore it and hope it goes away. But heel pain often gets worse when the underlying overload isn’t fixed. So if you’re waking up every morning and limping on those first few steps… Don’t just put up with it. Your feet might simply need better support. Get over to ergonx.com.au and check out our podiatrist-designed arch support work boots today. Your heels will thank you. ##ergonx##heelpain##plantarfasciitis##archsupport##workboots
