Removing a Corn From the Tip of the Second Toe

A firm corn has formed at the apex, or very tip, of the second toe. The thickened yellow skin is concentrated over the rounded end of the toe and stands out from the softer skin around it.

Reducing the Thickened Skin

The toe is held steady while a scalpel is kept almost flat against its tip. Thin layers are lifted from the corn in short strokes, gradually reducing the raised patch rather than taking it away in one cut.

Finishing the Edges

The blade works across the centre and then around the border of the corn. Small remaining pieces are removed until the tip of the toe looks flatter and the treated area blends more evenly with the surrounding skin.
