How Overpronation Can Load the Inside of the Heel
Overpronation is an inward movement of the foot and ankle under load. From behind, the heel no longer sits in a straight line with the lower leg; it tilts inward as weight moves through the foot.
Reading the Heel Position
A line through the lower leg and heel makes the change easier to see. In this example, the measured heel position is approximately 173.8 degrees rather than a straight 180-degree alignment.
Where Discomfort May Be Felt
That inward tilt shifts more load towards the inside of the heel. For someone who overpronates, this is one possible mechanical reason discomfort may be concentrated along the inner heel rather than directly in the centre.
