Reducing Thick Callus Around the Edge of the Heel
Foot health explained
Reducing Thick Callus Around the Edge of the Heel
A thick heel callus can build into a raised yellow layer around the outer edge of the heel. Here, that hardened skin is reduced gradually with a scalpel.
Following the Curve of the Heel
The practitioner supports the heel with one hand and keeps the blade almost flat with the skin. Short, controlled strokes follow the curved edge while fine layers of callus lift away.
Reducing the Raised Border
Work continues around the thickest sections rather than staying in one spot. As the loose layers are cleared, the raised border becomes flatter and blends more evenly with the surrounding heel.
